An exciting opportunity has arisen to offer the right individual an opportunity to join the Apprenticeship Training Team of Sporting Futures Training.

We are an Outstanding Ofsted ( Sept 2021), National Award winning school-based Training Provider for Education and Childcare Apprenticeships 2022.

We work with schools to deliver the Level 3 Teaching Assistant and the opportunity has arisen to expand our team in the classroom Teaching Assistant area. 

This position would require commitment, enthusiasm, high end organisational and communication skills and an ability to co-ordinate a virtual and face to face program across our organisation, working as a valued member of our team.

It is a position that could be ideal for an individual with experience in the Apprenticeship world, or a teacher who is considering a fresh, exciting challenge. 

 It would be working with a new cohort of apprentices working alongside our experienced Senior TA Tutor.

 The role will involve visiting learners and observing within school settings, and it is a great opportunity to step into the Training provider world, or bring with you experience from a comparative setting.

 JOB DESCRIPTION

As Apprenticeship Tutor – ( Full-Time ) – Learner Load 25

Manage apprenticeship delivery based upon the following model:

  • Tutor delivery on a fortnightly basis- Half day
  • Three observations per year ( start/Mid/End) to compliment feedback the learner receives in the workplace. Also to tie in PROGRESS REVIEWS during these observation visits to school sites.
  • Model based on the following : 25 Learners split into 4 Grps.
  • Understand and support Tutors to understand the EPA processes for the specific area.
  • Support the Recruitment lead with placement of Learners and where necessary be involved with Employer Engagement
  • To support with the Digital delivery of the programme and continue to develop remote delivery opportunities
  • Develop understanding of the use of BUD system – training will be given.

Person Specification: qualifications, experience and skill levels.

  • This post holder is expected to work proactively with the core team and alongside senior team members, ensuring program management is delivered effectively at all levels.
  • Proven experience in either teaching or as an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for new opportunities.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining information systems to support effective working using a range of office software, including email, spreadsheets and databases.

  • Effective time and workload management
  • Experience within the Education Sector
  • Pro-active, problem-solving approach
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy with the aims and objectives of Sporting Futures Training

•     Ability to form good working relationships with a wide range of groups and individuals

  • A sense of humour is required and an ability to meet deadlines.

What a Year ! We are so proud to announce that we were recently crowned National Apprenticeship Provider of the year in the Education and Childcare category – FEweek/AELP Award ceremony in March 2022.

We are unbelievably proud of the ALL of our amazing Team and their Learners for achieving this immense achievement.

Both Directors Jill Eaton and Jo Pountney were there to receive the award with one of their Senior Tutors , Leanne Hyams and VIP guests and it was an evening to remember.

It caps a year of achievement that has recognised the quality of the program that we deliver and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our employers, partners for their support throughout our journey to this successful point.

IT IS OFFICIAL – SPORTING FUTURES TRAINING IS AN OUTSTANDING TRAINING PROVIDER

The Team here at Sporting Futures Training are immensely proud to announce that we have received an OUTSTANDING OFSTED report with NO RECOMMENDATIONS.

Sporting Futures Training are celebrating the accolade of being graded as an OUTSTANDING OFSTED Grade 1 provider across all areas of inspection, with no recommendations, following their first FULL OFSTED in September this year.

This places Sporting Futures Training in a unique position across the country as it is very rare for provision to be recognised as OUTSTANDING in all areas:

The company Sporting Futures Training UK Ltd, that was founded in 2011 by Co-Directors, Jill Eaton and Jo Pountney, as a result of funding being withdrawn from the, then School Sports Partnerships, has continued to thrive and make an impact through apprenticeships on the lives of many individuals.

Entering the Training Provider world from scratch with a team of Teachers and ex-school staff, we are committed to working within schools to show them the impact and opportunities that apprenticeships can have within their workplace.

SFT have overcome challenges such as Apprentice reforms and the more recent pandemic and have continued to be led by their learners in developing a robust, successful program. ‘We speak the language of our schools and recognise the daily challenges faced within the school environment and we are here to work with schools to recognise the value of Apprenticeships not just in schools but across the wider landscape’, said Director Jill Eaton.

Their key focus is School-Based Apprenticeships, PE Apprenticeships and also Classroom Teaching Assistants and many individuals who have been through the SFT programs over the last ten years are still working in schools today as either, Teachers, Teaching Assistants or PE Teaching Assistants.

The success of the SFT ethos lies within the partnership working of the employers/Tutors who through a supportive, nurturing environment task Learners to aspire to achieve. We work with like-minded individuals / Lead Tutors across Durham/ Liverpool/ Birmingham/ London and beyond to deliver a quality program.

Key hub areas are based within Sedgefield School Sports Partnership ( Go-Well), Liverpool School Sports Partnership, Kingsbury School Sports Partnership, Enfield PE Team, within key London hubs and all across Hertfordshire.

Director Jo Pountney reflected: ‘To receive recognition from OFSTED on such a level, truly reflects the commitment and dedication of our team. To hear the feedback from the inspectors and evidence they had gathered through talking to our Learners, employers and tutors was reward for all the years we have strived to deliver a high-quality program.’

The report stated, ‘Apprentices learn from highly skilled and qualified tutors. Apprentices gain substantial new teaching skills and a good understanding of the different stages of education.’

‘Apprentices receive excellent support from mentors in the workplace… and benefit from expert workplace mentors.’

Leaders are rigorous and demanding in their drive for improvement…. Leaders have planned a rich and ambitious curriculum.

Jill Eaton also said that, ’we are so proud that the above and beyond support given by our tutors to our learners was noted, ‘ Tutors know their apprentices extremely well…Tutors expertly coach their apprentices to become reflective practitioners’. The report showed that our learners were professional and empathetic with the young people within their charge and for these values to be carried through to the next generation of PE workforce makes us all extremely proud.’

It has been a challenging couple of years and to receive this outstanding grade, truly represents a landmark for SFT and is a great way to celebrate their 10 year journey.

Returning to School January 2021 – Apprentice Guidance

GUIDANCE FOR OUR APPRENTICES JANUARY 2021
Welcome Back to the New Term and 2021
We hope that everyone has had a great Christmas Break and that you are ready to embark upon the New Year with a renewed optimism that this will be the year we move forwards and eventually return to some form of normality.
The recent school guidance from the Government has been a little confusing and is continually changing and we want to make sure you know where you should go for immediate advice on your own school/s situation. Every school is different hence it is important that you keep in touch with both your mentor and your tutor.
Your first step is:
1. Contact your mentor in school to see when you will be returning to school.
2. Contact your tutor to let them know if you will be in school from 4th January or returning at a later date.
3. Both Your remote learning with your tutor and any virtual training being delivered by Sporting Futures Training will continue as planned.
4. If you are starting employment at your new school – contact the Head Teacher for guidance on when you should go into school.
5. Remember – that Vulnerable children and keyworkers children will STILL be in school from the 4th January no matter what area you are in and you may be needed to support with this delivery, this is why it is so important to contact your mentor in school.
YOUR SAFETY: IMPORTANT
If you have tested positive to covid please ensure you let your school and tutor know immediately and then continue with keeping yourselves well and following the isolation period of 10 days.
If you feel anxious about returning to school then you MUST let your mentor/Head Teacher/ Tutor know of your concerns.
If you have personal vulnerabilities medical/ anxieties – again you must discuss these concerns and vulnerabilities with your mentor/Tutor so that we can support you with your situation.
If you are caught up with Teachers Unions and the Unions positions relating to return to work for staff within your school – You may find that your mentor is unable to comment upon giving advice about returning to school – we must ask for you to talk to your Head teacher directly for guidance and remember we are here to talk to you at the Sporting Futures Training Office as well to support you with decisions.

You must make the decision if you feel it is safe to return following discussions with your HT and Tutor.
These are really challenging times and whilst we know that there is a vaccine on the horizon we also know that schools at the moment are in the spotlight, the above are conversations that most of you would hope you would never have to have with Head Teachers etc , but this is a responsibility that you need to take yourself and we will support you with whatever decision you take.

Government Wage Incentives extended until September 2021

The Budget March 2021 brought an extension to the recent Government Wage Incentives for employing New Apprentices.

If an Employer employs a new Apprentice between 1st April 2021 – 30th September 2021 the following wage incentives are available:

Covid incentive £3000 until 30th September 2021  for all ages of apprentice, with an additional £1000* for the employment of a 16-18 yr old. (also applies to 19+ with an ECHP plan or care leaver)
